Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) is the central pillar of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Throughout history, Chinese Medicine has been extensively used in Asia as a primary form of treatment. Over this period of time Chinese Herbal Therapy has continued to evolve into a modern and effective form medical treatment.
Various plants, minerals and animal products are believed to have specific healing properties. Common examples many of us use as home remedies include: aloe for soothing burns on the skin, honey for a dry or sore throat, and ginger for nausea. The herbs are combined to make a formula specific to each individual’s disease pattern. Because the herbal formulas are ingested, the healing properties of the Chinese Herbal Therapy work on a deeper internal level than acupuncture.
Herbal formulas are customized to address each patient’s condition. Your custom herbal formula will consist of several high quality herbs, in powdered form, which you will mix with warm water and drink as a tea. Your herbal formula may need to be slightly modified or adjusted during your follow-up visits as you continue to see signs of your condition improving.
