While many patients undergoing acupuncture treatments say they barely feel anything, you may experience a slight tingling, dull or aching sensation at the site of the needle. The needles are usually left in place anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes depending on the condition being treated. Due the harmonizing effects of acupuncture, many patients fall in to a deep relaxed state and often fall asleep. If appropriate, other modalities may also be used during treatment such as cupping, gua sha, and/or tuina massage.
